
Chuck Reid
Director of Stewardship
Chuck joined Mohonk Preserve in 2018 and focuses on the Preserve’s physical land management, facilities maintenance, and capital projects. Chuck has worked in local, county, and state government and the non-profit industry protecting open space, developing recreational program services, and providing environmental conservation programs for over 30 years.
Chuck served as the Executive Director of the Strawberry Hill Foundation & Preserve west of Gettysburg, PA. He helped develop Adams County’s Greenway and Open Space Plan, was employed in the PA Department of Natural Resources’ Community Partnership Division, and served as Executive Director for the Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission in Monroe County, PA.
He obtained his Master of Public Administration degree from Virginia Tech and his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State focusing on Outdoor Recreation and Experiential Education. He managed the Penn State Outdoor Club and helped to provide environmental education programs at Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center.
Chuck lives in the community with his wife and two children. He volunteers for Sam’s Point Search And Rescue and serves as a firefighter for the Shawangunk Valley Fire Company. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Chuck enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, snowboarding, and mountaineering.
