Check out Mohonk Preserve through our Library Lending Program!

Established in 2013, the Library Lending Program provides free passes for patrons of participating libraries to gain access to Preserve lands. The program, which was originally developed with the Gardiner Public Library, enables people to check out a pass the same way they would check out a book or other library materials. The program is free for libraries within a 30-mile radius of the Preserve and there is a sliding fee for other libraries to participate.

In alignment with the Preserve’s mission and strategic goals, the Library Lending Program helps to bring more people into nature, increasing nature’s relevance in their lives while also helping to ensure its future preservation. The program encourages people of abilities and walks of life to benefit from spending time in nature by reducing socioeconomic and other barriers to access. The Library Lending Program supports local libraries by adding value and diversity to the benefits of library membership and increasing access to community resources.

“Our patrons have enjoyed being able to check out the Mohonk Preserve passes and are pleasantly surprised that we offer access to local attractions. It’s not difficult to use and is one of the most popular passes that we offer.”
Laurie Angle, Adult/Teen Services Coordinator, Albert Wisner Public Library

“Mohonk Preserve passes give residents, who might not otherwise be able to afford it, a chance to enjoy the Preserve. Incorporating the Mohonk Preserve passes into the services the library provides has been simple, but more importantly, these passes have been well-received and appreciated by our library patrons.”
Nicole Lane, Library Manager, Gardiner Public Library
