About Mohonk Preserve:
Located in the beautiful Hudson River Valley, Mohonk Preserve is New York’s largest nonprofit nature preserve. Our mission is to protect the Northern Shawangunk ridge and inspire people to care for, enjoy, and explore the natural world. We manage over 8,000 acres of mountain cliffs, forests, fields, and streams and welcome over 300,000 members and visitors each year who come to hike, run, rock climb, boulder, bike, cross-country ski, snowshoe and enjoy and experience nature.

Seasonal Facilities & Grounds Assistant

Embarking on your career path or blazing a new trail? Consider a Facilities & Grounds position this season! Assist our team and gain invaluable hands-on experience while maintaining the Preserve’s buildings and grounds, trailheads, carriage roads, trails, and fields. Summer Internships

Mohonk Preserve offers paid summer internships for students through our Schaefer Research Internship in our Conservation Programs and our Thom Scheuer Land Management Internship in our Visitor Experience and Land Protection programs. Internships run during the summer season.

Schaefer Research Internship

Dr. Vincent and Lois Schaefer established the Schaefer Research Internship “to introduce students to the fascination and almost infinite variety of the natural world by providing the setting, exposure to dedicated scientists, and opportunity to sample a wide variety of nature study.” This internship is based out of the Conservation & Education department, specifically focused on Conservation Science, and runs approximately ~8-9 weeks (~June-August, flexible start date).

Scheuer Land Management Internship

The Scheuer Land Management Internship provides the opportunity to work within our Land Stewardship department alongside the professionals who ensure that Mohonk Preserve’s land, trails and carriage roads are managed in a manner that protects their ecological integrity while welcoming visitors who seek a wide variety of recreational experiences.

Application deadline is March 29, 2024. Only on-time, complete applications, which includes reference letters, will be considered.
