Volunteer Orientations

Volunteer orientations are held each spring and are designed to give you all the information you need about a particular volunteer activity. It is a great opportunity to meet with the coordinator, learn about the activity, and meet other volunteers. Please check back in early 2026 for next year’s orientation schedule!

Community Science Volunteer Program Update

Due to staff changes, we are making the following adjustments to Community Science Volunteer programs:

  • Peregrine Watch, Phenology, StreamWatch, and Invasive Species Programs (Beetle Busters and Forest Guardians) will continue with currently active volunteers only. New volunteers (those who have not gone through orientation and been trained) will be eligible to join in 2026.
  • Current volunteers should expect email correspondence with Megan Napoli, Associate Director of Conservation Science & Research, in February. Megan will outline the 2025 program expectations and inquire about individual anticipated continued participation. Direct any immediate questions to research@mohonkpreserve.org.
