Our volunteer orientations are designed to give you all the information you need about a particular volunteer activity. It is a great opportunity to meet with the coordinator, learn about the activity, and meet other volunteers. Please feel free to attend any or all orientations.
All orientations are held at the Visitor Center. If you want to get involved but cannot attend a scheduled orientation, please call as some coordinators will provide individual training.
Trainings and orientations are subject to change due to inclement weather, so if in doubt, please call the Visitor Center at 845-255-0919.
2019 Volunteer Orientation and Training
This orientation will provide you with an overview of the Mohonk Preserve Hawk Watch volunteer group. Volunteers will assist in identifying hawks in flight and recording data. Additionally, volunteers will contribute data to the Hawk Migration of North America (HMANA) database. Must be available weekly early September through late November.
Please join us at the Hawk Watch Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, August 24th from 9:00 AM – 1 PM in the Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center Conference Room. Register today for the training.
Lead youngsters back in time to a Native American encampment. Help them discover our streams, cliffs, forests, ponds, and the animals and creatures that live there. Assist Preserve Educators with outdoor school programs. It's a great way to help kids get up close and personal with nature! (Weekdays only.)
Learn more at the Mohonk Preserve Volunteer Educator Orientation & Training on Wednesday, Sept 11th at the Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center Conference Room. Training for new volunteers from 9AM-12PM. Returning Vols from 9:45AM-12PM. Register today for the training.
