
Kim Tischler
Associate Director of Community Education
Kim (she/her) is the Associate Director of Community Education at Mohonk Preserve. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and earned her K-12 teaching certification from SUNY New Paltz. Kim is also a certified Orton-Gillingham practitioner and supervisor, with experience as a curriculum developer for the Museum of Natural History’s Museum School. With over 25 years at Mohonk Preserve, she has positively shaped the lives of thousands of students and community members, providing shared, immersive, hands-on learning experiences.
Kim’s teaching spans both traditional classrooms and outdoor field study programs. She spent one year traveling the globe, mentoring a student during an experiential sophomore year, while also evaluating their academic progress and processing credits. This journey seamlessly integrated academics, community service, and adventure, with highlights including contributing to conservation efforts at the Singapore Bird Atrium, studying Komodo Dragons in Indonesia, and earning an advanced PADI scuba diving certification on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
An avid Ultimate Frisbee player and coach, Kim is highly skilled in technical rock climbing and enjoys working with clay.
