Ashawna Abbott

Community Science Coordinator

Ashawna serves as the Community Science Coordinator, overseeing community science initiatives and supporting ecological monitoring projects. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Ithaca College and has cultivated a lifelong passion for conservation. With extensive experience in environmental education across the Hudson Valley, and four years as an Environmental Education Outreach Coordinator at the Preserve, Ashawna brings a creative and inclusive approach to making science accessible for learners of all ages.

Her favorite part of her role is sparking curiosity in students and adult learners alike, helping them develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Outside of work, you’ll often find Ashawna hiking, or birdwatching, activities that inspire her work and ground her commitment to conservation.
