Free or Discounted ways to Access Mohonk Preserve
Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center and its immediate grounds are free to the public.
Children age 15 and under receive free access at all trailheads and must be accompanied by an adult member or day pass holder.
Marakill Woods is free to access from the Visitor Center, East Trapps Connector or the Shawangunk Gateway Campground parking lots. To go further onto Mohonk Preserve property beyond the East Trapps Connector Trailhead requires a day pass or membership.
River-to-Ridge & The Pine Road-White Oak Bend Path – Lenape Lane Loop on River-to-Ridge Trail is free, accessible from River-to-Ridge Springtown Road Parking or Mohonk Preserve Duck Pond Trailhead Parking. To go further onto Mohonk Preserve property past the Duck Pond trailhead booth requires a day pass or membership.
Seasonal Ulster County Nature Bus
The Ulster County Nature Bus provides free seasonal access and transportation to Mohonk Preserve and other area parks and preserves.
Seasonal Healthy Hudson Valley Program
Residents of Ulster, Orange, Dutchess, Columbia and Greene counties can sign up to participate in the Healthy Hudson Valley program in early spring to receive a pass that provides over a month of free access to the land (formerly known as Healthy Ulster).
Current and former military service members
Are eligible for a complimentary day pass on any day visit or receive $10 off a household membership. To receive your complimentary day pass, please ask for it at any staffed Trailhead. To receive your membership discount, ask for it at any staffed trailhead or call membership to purchase in advance at 845-255-0919 x1248.
Check out a pass from your local library!
Participating libraries are listed here. One library pass provides access for up to four visitors ages 16+ in the same vehicle.
If your local library isn’t one of the over 70 libraries already participating, you can ask them to contact membership@mohonkpreserve.org to be added to the program.
Free memberships for those who need it
Family of New Paltz and Family of Woodstock have vouchers available for a free annual membership for individuals or households who are not financially able to pay the membership dues. Please contact the organization directly to obtain a voucher.
Accessibility for Visitors with a Disability
An accompanying care attendant for a visitor or member with a disability can receive free access with that member. To obtain a complimentary day pass for your care attendant, please ask for it at any staffed Trailhead.
