Many ways to give

Since 1963 Mohonk Preserve has protected land along the Shawangunk Ridge. Just as we have thoughtfully stewarded the land, we’ve also wisely managed our financial resources to ensure that this special place will be here for generations to come.

A planned gift can have tremendous impact and help ensure that your investment supports your love of conservation, land protection, sustainable recreation, and environmental education.

Choose a planned gift that’s right for you.

Whatever your stage in life, there’s a planned gift option that works for you and helps protect the Shawangunk Ridge for generations to come. Explore your options and contact us when you’re ready to talk.

Name Mohonk Preserve in your will or trust

Anyone can make a gift in their will or trust. Naming Mohonk Preserve as a beneficiary will not affect your finances now and you can always change your plans later if your circumstances change.

If you do not have an up-to-date plan in place, you can create your legal will for free using a trusted resource from our partners at FreeWill, which makes it simple to start your legacy with the Preserve in a few minutes online.

If you would prefer to finalize your will with an attorney, you can also save time with your lawyer by using FreeWill to document your wishes first.

If you already have an up-to-date will, please let us know.

Gift of non-probate assets

Another popular way to make a planned gift is to name Mohonk Preserve a beneficiary of non-probate assets, or assets not covered by a will or trust. These include your IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, and more. Organize your assets and learn how to name beneficiaries here:

Join the Legacy Society

Anyone who makes a planned gift has the option to join the Legacy Society. What’s the Legacy Society, you ask? It’s a group of like-minded individuals who share your desire to ensure the future of the Preserve. Membership in the Legacy Society is one way we can recognize and thank you during your lifetime.

Please let us know if you’ve planned a gift to the Preserve by filling out this quick form. If you prefer to keep your plans confidential, rest assured that membership to the Legacy Society is optional, and we will thank you in private.
