Gretchen Reed

Director of Marketing & Communications

Gretchen joined Mohonk Preserve in June 2010 as Director of Marketing & Communications. She also serves as a member of the Preserve’s Leadership Team and staff liaison to the Mohonk Preserve Volunteer Photographers Group and Marketing & Communications Committee.

During her three decades of advertising, marketing and public relations experience, Gretchen worked with industry-leading companies including Intel, Volvo and Nestle, and nonprofit organizations including the Ad Council and People for the American Way. Prior to joining the Preserve, she was Director of Editorial Services at JMC Marketing Communications & PR in Kingston. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from California State University Los Angeles.

A resident of High Falls, where she lives in a historic lock tender’s cottage, Gretchen was a longtime President of the D&H Canal Historical Society & Museum and currently represents the Preserve on the Ulster County Tourism Advisory Committee. She enjoys getting into nature at Mohonk Preserve at the Testimonial Gateway and Spring Farm Trailheads, gardening around her cottage and boosting her heart rate with cardio kick boxing and racewalking.
