Prehistoric Native American rockshelter is excavated at the “Trapps Gap”

Dr. Lucy Johnson and Vassar College students conduct an archaeological dig to better understand the lives, hunting habits, and movements of the earliest inhabitants of the Shawangunks. This study builds on the findings of earlier digs in the 1970s and 1980s conducted by Preserve Research Associate Dr. Leonard Eisenberg of SUNY New Paltz.
