Do you like snowshoeing, sledding or skiing?

What about ice fishing?

Then you are among the winners of the winter of 2013-14.

The snowy weather and occasional extreme-cold snaps have made for a remarkable season, including some record-low temperatures and significant snowfall.

On Jan. 3, the temperature at Dutchess County Airport dropped to minus 7 at 11:53 p.m., edging out the previous record of minus 6 set in 1981.

And February has ranked as the second-snowiest in 119 years of record keeping at the Mohonk Preserve, with 38.7 inches of snow at Mohonk Lake. The record is 52.8 inches in 2010 and the average February total is 14.9 inches.  See full article online or view as a PDF.
