How far does the Mohonk Preserve want you to go to help support its efforts to protect open space on the Shawangunk Ridge? Would you believe 50 miles? And how do they want you to do those 50 miles? On your feet, on the very trails the preserve maintains.
“Rock the Ridge is a 50-mile endurance event, and its concept is that the average person can actually do it. It’s not just for elite, ultra-marathoners. Because the course is open for 24 hours, you can actually walk the course in 24 hours. So you can either do the whole 50 as an individual or as a part of team that does the whole 50 or you can do a relay, (in) which each person does about a quarter of the entire course,” said Norman Goluskin, a Mohonk Preserve board member.
