When open space like the Greig Farm in Red Hook is protected from future development, the land trusts that negotiate the deals face costs that go beyond the purchase price for those rights.
They include documentation, surveys and appraisals, among other expenses.
To that end, the Dutchess Land Conservancy, which helped negotiate the Greig Farm deal, was among 57 nonprofit land trusts from around the state that received funding from the state’s Conservation Partnership Program. See full article and video online or view as a PDF.
